Jose Enrique sends warning to Man Utd ahead of Atletico Madrid tie

Jose Enrique has sent a warning to Manchester United after they were drawn against Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in the last-16 stage of the Champions League. 

There was controversy over yesterday’s draw in Nyon, with the first set of fixtures declared null and void and the draw redone following an administration error. 

After originally drawing French giants Paris-Saint Germain, United were then pitted against Atletico in the second and final draw. 

Ralf Rangnick’s side will travel to Madrid on February 23, before welcoming their opponents back to Old Trafford for the second leg on March 15.

But despite the advantage of playing at home in the second leg, former Liverpool defender Enrique believes that Atletico will prove to be too good for the Red Devils.

‘To be honest, Simeone has the best team in La Liga in terms of names, but Real Madrid with [Carlo] Ancelotti they are doing so well. I didn’t expect that, I expected Atletico to win the league this season because of the players they have,’ he told Metro.co.uk via BeMyBet.

‘But some of the players like Joao Felix, they have world class players, it’s not fitting into the way that Simeone wants to play. 

‘Everyone knows him and the way he wants to play because he’s as very defensive team, counter attacking, very annoying, hard working players. 

‘Obviously the team that he has now, he has hard working players but he also has quality players, even Luis Suarez Is not the Luis he used to be at Liverpool, at 35 you can’t ask him to work as hard as he was when he was younger, but this is normal.
