Shotzi Qualifies For Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Shotzi is the latest woman to be added to the Money in the Bank Ladder Match which will be taking place on July 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She defeated Tamina to qualify on the June 24 episode of SmackDown.
Originally, Shotzi was booked to face her recent rival, Aliyah. However, right before SmackDown aired, it was confirmed that Aliyah was out of the match and replaced by Tamina. On air, it was said that Aliyah was injured but more detail wasn’t provided.
This also, believe it or not, marks Shotzi first singles victory on the main roster. She was called up around this time last year as a tag team with Tegan Nox. As a team, they strung together some victories, but this would be her first singles win.
Shotzi joins the list of names, Lacey Evans, Raquel Rodriguez, Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, and Asuka for MITB. The match will house a seventh woman that has yet to be determined.
Elsewhere on this week’s SmackDown, a second women’s match was a handicap bout between Sonya Deville vs. Lacey Evans & Raquel Rodriguez. Prior to the match, Deville approached Adam Pearce in his office. She spoke highly of her displeasure that she has had her chance to be put into Money in the Bank. Deville brings up names such as Rodriguez and Evans who either just got here or have been gone for a year and are placed in the match. Pearce then booked the handicap match.
Deville would be smart about her match and bring out back up. Xia Li and Shayna Baszler joined her. Despite Deville being the heel in this match, she did what she could to try to win including help from the outside. She would eventually catch a Woman’s Right by Evans and be pinned to take the L.
After the match, Li and Baszler quickly came in for the attack. In the end, it would be Evans and Rodriguez standing tall in the ring while the three retreated up the ramp.
