Drew McIntyre Reflects on WrestleMania 40 Victory Over Seth Rollins

WrestleMania 40 served as the apex of Drew McIntyre’s quest to regain WWE gold, which saw him clinch his third world title after defeating Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. In a recent interview with “Notsam Wrestling,” McIntyre discussed how this groundbreaking victory had such powerful meaning for both him and his family.

“Winning that match was realer than anything else because it was real. If it comes off genuine with me, it’s because it is. That moment when I held the strap, all I could hear were people shouting ‘You deserve it!’.

It was an ocean of emotions. The last time I won my first championship at the silent Performance Center but this time there was a crowd there. Right in front of the world, my adrenaline rush and triumph happened. That made it even more special when Seth said ‘You deserve it’ while our eyes met”.

Drew McIntyre Pandemic Wins

McIntyre’s first world title win occurred during unusual circumstances since WrestleMania 36 took place at an empty WWE Performance Centre due to COVID-19 pandemic effects.Lastly, in November 2020, he secured his second WWE Championship by prevailing over Randy Orton again in front of virtual viewers from WWE ThunderDome.

On the other hand, only in WrestleMania 40 did he have his first shot at getting a real-worded belt before a lively audience. McIntyre’s reign as WWE World Heavyweight Champion lasted only a short time and therefore he felt mixed emotions about his victory.

Within seconds of that victorious moment, Damian Priest used his Money in the Bank briefcase to become champion thereby bringing an abrupt end to McIntyre’s reign. This triumph at WrestleMania 40 marked another important chapter in McIntyre’s career demonstrating both his tenacity and connection with its fans.

Despite being short-lived on top however, that night still stands out for both McIntyre and his supporters as it encapsulated the unpredictable and emotional aspects of the WWE.
