Patrick Mouratoglou warns Carlos Alcaraz for the future
Carlos Alcaraz has had a sensational season, especially in the central part of the summer, after which he won Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the Olympic silver medal. The disappointments at the Australian Open and the US Open, with some ups and downs, can certainly be overlooked, considering the milestones obtained by the young Spaniard, to which we must add the title at Indian Wells.
However, there are those, like Patrick Mouratoglou, who advised the young Spaniard to make some changes, in view of the future.
Carlitos’ problems have been especially evident on hard-courts: at the last US Open the Spaniard surprisingly went out against Van de Zandschulp, in the 2nd round.
The French coach – who has just started following Naomi Osaka – tried to analyze the difficulties of the Spanish tennis player in certain moments of the season, especially in view of the rivalry with his young colleague Jannik Sinner.
“Alcaraz gave practically everything both mentally and physically to win those two Slams and he was right, as we know how much they counted. But this way it is exhausting and it has made him mentally exhausted. He is a very emotional boy and I have seen that he has often had cramps this year and throughout his career and this only at 20 years old. If you think about the Big 3, how many times has it happened to him? Maybe he is really too emotional and thinking about this I think that in the future he should implement a calendar with more rest, basically mental rest more than physical,” analyzed Mouratoglou.
