A significant piece of Roger Federer’s legacy was sold to a fortunate bidder for over $100,000 after an 18-day bidding process on TheTennisAuction.com. The item up for auction was one of his racquets from his Wimbledon-winning years.
The winning racquet is the exact one Federer used during his second Wimbledon victory in 2004. It was a special one for the Swiss Maestro as he defended a Major title for the first time in his career. Roger ousted Andy Roddick in the final and celebrated his third Major crown.
This special keepsake is signed for his friend Anna Wintour and her daughter, with the inscription, “To Anna + Bee, Roger Federer,” written on the neck of the racquet. The bidding for the racquet started at $10,000 and concluded at a wooping $118,206.
