David Perron earns a hat trick in close loss

In a close contest in Columbus, David Perron notched a hat trick and tallied an assist to contribute to all four of the St. Louis goals scored in that game. His effort, however, was not enough to push his team to victory.

The Blue Jackets had five different goal scorers in this matchup. Sean Kuraly, Gustav Nyquist, Patrik Laine, Emil Bemstrom, and Jakub Voracek all found the back of the net. Voracek’s goal ended up being the game-winner in this outing.

For the Blue Jackets, Elvis Merzlikins posted an ice time of 46:06 before exiting due to tightness in his back. He made 19 saves on 21 shots. Joonas Korpisalo finished the game off by making five saves on seven shots. On the Blues end, Ville Husso allowed five goals on 27 shots to end his game with a save percentage of .815.

Ryan Pulock opened scoring 3:16 into the second period. His goal was assisted by Adam Pelech and Cal Clutterbuck.

18:46 into the second, Denis Gurianov tied the game up at 1-1. His goal was assisted by Jacob Peterson and Ryan Suter.

4:17 into the third, Brock Nelson helped the Islanders regain their lead. His goal came on the power play. Noah Dobson and Mathew Barzal were credited with assists on the goal.

Just over a minute later, Nelson notched his second goal of the night. Anthony Beauvillier and Anders Lee secured helpers on Nelson’s second goal.

Jacob Peterson scored a goal 11:39 into the third. His goal was assisted by Tyler Seguin and Denis Gurianov.

Brock Nelson capped off his hat trick with 20 seconds remaining in regulation. His third goal was an empty-netter.

For Dallas, Jake Oettinger allowed three goals on 24 shots to post a save percentage of .875.
