Malakai Black to Debut in Upcoming Horror Film

AEW enigmatic star Malakai Black, better known as Tommy End in WWE, is set to begin work on a new horror movie. The former WWE NXT Champion announced the news via his Instagram account. He revealed that he will be playing a character named Lar in an upcoming movie called ‘The Awoken.’ Written by Danny Mattier and directed by Michael Thyer, ‘The Awoken’ is produced by Blue Cicada Films.
It takes place in an after-hours bar and blends horror with thriller elements. Filming began recently in Youngstown, Ohio.
Malakai Black’s Acting Debut
“Tom Budgen ‘Malakai Black’ will be making his acting debut as LAR.
THE AWOKEN,” reads the caption of the Instagram post. Malakai Black made his AEW debut at last month’s Road Rager event, following his surprise release from WWE earlier this year due to budget cuts. In addition to working for AEW as a singles competitor, Black has also formed The House of Black stable with Brodie King and Varsity Blonds (Brian Pillman Jr.
& Griff Garrison) who accompanied him to the ring for this match. Black is currently scheduled to compete in a Four Way Tag Team Match at this year’s All Out pay-per-view on September 5th. Black and The House of Black are taking on The Elite (Adam Cole & Young Bucks) and Best Friends (Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor & Wheeler Yuta) for the AEW World Trios Titles.
This marks Malakai Black’s first Hollywood role since being released by WWE earlier this year. Alongside wrestling for AEW, he has appeared regularly for various independent promotions including GCW and PWG. He has been involved in high-profile matches throughout his young career against the likes of Aleister Black (as Tommy End), Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano, and Velveteen Dream amongst others.
