Jannik Sinner’s doping case is not finished yet

Jannik Sinner was found positive to Clostebol twice in March, but he was not disqualified because he proved that he had no intent or negligence in the process that led to his contamination. The banned substance came into contact with Sinner’s body through a massage by her physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi – who was using a cream to heal a wound – during the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells.

The world number 1 was able to avoid disqualification and was found innocent by ITIA, but he was stripped of his 400 points and prize money won at Indian Wells due to objective liability. The 2024 Australian Open champion will be able to play regularly at the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the season, which will take place in New York and start next week.

The 23-year-old from San Candido is playing the best season of his young career, having won a Grand Slam and two Masters 1000 this year. Jannik has just won the Masters 1000 in Cincinnati, where he showed extraordinary mental strength despite not playing his best tennis.

Sinner beat the American Frances Tiafoe in the final, but the most important tests were those against Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals and against Alexander Zverev in the semifinals. The Italian ace will try to enhance his amazing season by winning the title in New York.

WADA and NADO may appeal

The story of Jannik Sinner’s positivity has been widely discussed in recent hours and several players have attacked the Italian player. Nick Kyrgios, Denis Shapovalov and Lucas Pouille were very hard on the world number 1, claiming that he would have deserved the disqualification and that there is unequal treatment. Although Sinner has been declared innocent by the ITIA and has the support of the ATP, this matter can not be considered closed. WADA and NADO may appeal against the acquittal within 30 days.

During a long interview with ESPN, Darren Cahill opened up on Sinner:…
