WWE’s Grayson Waller Criticizes Media for Disrespecting Wrestlers

Grayson Waller, the reigning “WWE SmackDown” Tag Team Champion, recently voiced his displeasure with the lack of preparation and respect he encounters in some media interviews. During his appearance on the podcast “Going Ringside,” Waller expressed frustration over media hosts who fail to properly research their guests, which often leads to unproductive and disrespectful exchanges.

Waller highlighted the importance of informed and respectful dialogue, stating, “I enjoy doing media with someone who’s put any ounce of effort into the interview we’re doing. You’ve obviously done some research. You know some names, you know some stuff about me.

This is a great conversation.” He contrasted this with less favorable experiences where interviewers appear uninformed and rely solely on generic questions prepared by others. The WWE star was particularly critical of instances where the lack of knowledge veers into outright disrespect.

“When that turns to disrespect, I have no shame going back at them and letting them know that we don’t take that anymore,” Waller asserted. He emphasized that outdated stereotypes about wrestlers and wrestling are a thing of the past, noting the athleticism required to compete in the ring—a challenge he claims would be daunting even for athletes from other sports.

Confrontation at ‘Sunshine

Waller’s resolve was tested recently during preparations for the 2024 WWE Elimination Chamber event. An encounter with a floor manager from the “Sunshine” morning show escalated when the manager mocked Waller by shadow-boxing in front of him.

Waller did not shy away from the confrontation, threatening to respond with a real punch to underline his point about respect and the seriousness of his sport. This incident underscores a broader issue within sports media, where the line between entertainment and disrespect can sometimes blur, leaving athletes like Waller to defend their profession’s integrity.
