Thomas Tuchel claimed ‘lucky’ Burnley had stolen a point in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge as tempers became frayed between him and rival manager Sean Dyche.

Tuchel was bold enough to yell at the intimidating Burnley boss during the first half after a hefty challenge from Clarets skipper Ben Mee on Ross Barkley went unpunished.

And though both managers tried to play down the spat afterwards, it added spice to a lively encounter that saw Burnley sub Matej Vydra cancel out Kai Havertz’s opening goal.

Chelsea had 25 attempts on goal and wasted a stack of chances to leave Tuchel claiming: ‘They (Burnley) were very lucky. That is football. We were lucky at Brentford. That is why everyone loves the game.

‘Sometimes like today, somebody steals some points. We were lucky at Brentford to they were lucky today to get their result. It happens sometimes.’

Tuchel wouldn’t be drawn on why he had turned to the Burnley technical area midway in the first half and hollered at Dyche as Barkley lay in the centre circle.

‘I learned in my career not to comment on referees and other coaches. I will not comment on it.’
