Tony Khan Confirms Mercedes Mone TBS Title Defense at Full Gear

A huge TBS Championship match has been added to AEW’s Full Gear pay-per-view in Newark, New Jersey next month. AEW President Tony Khan announced Wednesday on X that Mercedes Mone will defend her TBS Championship against Kris Statlander, adding to a stacked lineup for Full Gear. Khan added that both Mone and Statlander will appear on this week’s “AEW Dynamite” broadcast live from the Southern New Hampshire University Arena.

The TBS Championship match follows a h-t challenge between Statlander and Mone. This rivalry boiled over last Saturday on “AEW Collision,” where Statlander formally issued her challenge for Full Gear. Her challenge came from a dominant win over Mone’s bodyguard, “The Brickhouse” Kamille, in the special Fright Night edition of “AEW Dynamite.”

During an interview with Statlander backstage, she had nothing sweet to say to Mone. She said Mone “acts like she’s better than everyone” but isolates herself by staying “in her own locker room” because she’s “afraid” of the competition. The fiery Statlander added she replays Mone’s post-match attack in her mind like a constant scene, drawing personal challenge from it. “She should be afraid of me,” Statlander declared.

Title Showdowns Await

She reminded the fans that she entered last year’s Full Gear as TBS Champion and is ready to win it back this year.

But the TBS Championship match isn’t among the many expected on the Full Gear card. A rematch between Jay White and “Hangman” Adam Page is expected by fans, as is a title defense by AEW World Champion Jon Moxley against Orange Cassidy.

Then Roderick Strong or Adam Cole might face MJF in what would be an explosive match. This AEW Event takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark on November 23; with some of the highest of stakes matching on the card, it sets up what should be an exciting night of action.
