Conor Gallagher has been ‘unbelievable’ at Crystal Palace this season and Thomas Tuchel ‘cannot ignore’ the Chelsea loanee’s performances, says Arsenal legend Ian Wright.
Gallagher has enjoyed loan spells at Charlton Athletic, Swansea City and West Brom and joined Premier League club Palace for the 2021-22 season over the summer.
The 21-year-old has made a big impact at Selhurst Park, playing a hand in four goals in eight appearances and impressing Palace boss and former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira.
Wright believes Gallagher is ‘showing Chelsea what he’s got’ and says it will be impossible for Tuchel to ‘ignore’ the youngster, who will look to break into the Blues’ first-team next season.
‘Being a Chelsea fan, he’s obviously driven to try to get back there and be where he wants to be,’ he said on The Kelly and Wrighty show.
‘Gallagher is one of those players – when I watch him, he’s never less than seven out of 10. He’s consistently good in every game I’ve seen him play.
‘Obviously, he has had to go on loan. [But] he’s showing Chelsea exactly what he’s got. Now you can’t ignore him.
‘I think for him, it’s even tougher. Because he’s had to go out from Chelsea, go somewhere like West Brom who got relegated [despite] being the best player there, come to Palace and still be the standout. It’s unbelievable how he’s doing this.’
Wright is not the only Premier League legend to praise Gallagher this season, with former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville singling him out after Crystal Palace drew 2-2 with Arsenal.
