Vince Russo opens up on Jeff Hardy
News of Jeff Hardy’s release shocked the WWE Universe. The three-time world champion was teaming up with Drew McIntyre and King Woods against Roman Reigns and the Usos during a live event in Texas on December 4. The ‘Charismatic Enigma’ left the ring in the middle of the match and never returned, disappearing into the crowd.
Jeff is rumored to have been fired after he turned down WWE’s offer to go to rehab. For the past several years, Hardy has been referencing her alcoholism and substance abuse issues during her storylines with Samoa Joe and Sheamus.
In 2020, the 44-year-old from Cameron even faced Sheamus in a very strange match at the bar (‘Bar Fight’). Speaking to Sportskeeda, former WWE and WCW writer Vince Russo illustrated how difficult it is for some athletes to solve their problems by spending so much time out and about.

“Being a wrestler is not a simple job as you might imagine. You have to perform almost every night, often not in the best physical conditions, there are many cities to reach, you are far from your family, you are alone, you can fall into depression and much more” – explained Vince Russo.
“Jeff Hardy’s problems are known to all and I am sorry that he was released from WWE. I think he should use this time to stop and take care of himself ”- he added. Vince Russo has interacted with several wrestlers who have been struggling with addiction over the past three decades.
“People don’t realize how difficult it is to get out of that spiral. This type of work does not help young people to solve certain problems” – he confided. Former WWE manager Jim Cornette also spoke on the subject: “I believe the federation was wrong to exploit Jeff’s personal demons.
Bringing real life into wrestling is a big risk, which needs to be weighed and measured. I didn’t see anything positive in the idea of solving Hardy’s problems.” Jeff Hardy was part of WWE’s recent tour which saw him perform in a six-man tag…
