Arn Anderson Credits Career Success to JYD

Arn Anderson’s professional wrestling career has been quite remarkable. A founding member of the legendary Four Horsemen and known for his exceptional wrestling ability, Anderson has significantly impacted the industry.

Nonetheless, a recent revelation by the WWE Hall of Famer shows that The Junkyard Dog (JYD) was responsible for a turning point in his career. During one of his appearances on Stories With Brisco and Bradshaw, Anderson highlighted a moment that would define his path in wrestling.

He brought up the role JYD played in creating the character Arn Anderson. “We’re sitting around at TV,” he told Brisco and Bradshaw. “Everybody’s in one room for Bill Watts. He said, we gotta get you a partner, and we’ll see.

Any ideas? And nobody had any ideas. And out of the blue, a voice ‘Hey Bill, Lunde looks just like Ole Anderson, why don’t you send him [to Jim Crockett] and make him an Anderson?’ That was The Junkyard Dog”.

Anderson recounted as such: “Had it not been for JYD, I might’ve never been anything. So that’s how stuff happens in this business”.

Arn Meets Ole

This suggestion led to a meeting to secure Arn’s place in wrestling history.

JYD thought so much about this it sparked off a confrontation between Arn Anderson and Ole Anderson, which became the deciding factor towards becoming Arnold W.A. “Call us into the office,” says Arn with enthusiasm.

“I walk in and Ole looks up and says damn you do look like me I didn’t know if that was good or bad. I’ll tell you what, and we’ll give it a try. We’ll call you Arn Anderson,” recalled AA, smiling, giving positivity to the world as he showed up.

Following his active life as a wrestler, he continued shaping wrestling society even more greatly. After taking off from active competition, he spent years working behind the scenes as a producer/road agent for WWE. He then moved on to AEW, where he took a similar position.
