Vince McMahon still takes the biggest decisions in WWE

Vince McMahon is known for yelling into the ears of his commentators through headphones, to give all the necessary directions. One of McMahon’s victims is undoubtedly poor Michael Cole, who has worked for the company since 1997.

During a Q&A session at Steel City Con, John Bradshaw Layfield recounted the story in which Cole risked his job and his butt for not listening to Vince.

“Vince McMahon never yelled into Jerry Lawler’s headphones or mine, I guess because we’ve been in the ring for a long time for him, but with the guys at the commentary, it’s different.

In fact, I’ll tell you a funny story. We were sitting backstage once with Vince and Jimmy Snuka’s son was debuting and Vince said, ‘Make sure you say when he arrives he’s Jimmy Snuka’s son.’ Later we tried to say that, but Vince kept saying, ‘ The last thing you want to say is that he is Jimmy Snuka’s son because he can’t live up to the fact that Jimmy Snuka was his father.

‘ Later they tried because it didn’t really work. They tried. But Michael Cole took a lot of notes. So he’s writing, ‘Jimmy Snuka’s son.’ I don’t even notice. As soon as the boy takes the tag, Michael Cole says, ‘Jimmy Snuka’s son is coming.’

Vince had just told him not to say Jimmy Snuka’s son and Vince was looking at us through a screen. […] I started laughing because I realized that Cole didn’t know he shouldn’t say it. Vince sees me laughing and thinks Cole is making fun of him in front of the whole company.

Vince’s response was, ‘Michael, I’m going to come over there and fire you. No, I’ll come over there and I’ll kick your butt-No, that’s not true. At this point, he is arguing with himself and goes: ‘No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

I’ll kick your butt and then fire you. That’s what I’m going to do. I’m getting off right now.’ ” Then JBL added that luckily Vince eventually understood Michael Cole’s bona fide mistake and he laughed too.
