WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg and The Undertaker at Super ShowDown 2019 is one of those matches in pro wrestling that gets the most attention. Nonetheless, this match has often been regarded as one of the most disappointing encounters in recent times.

In an interview on “Insight with Chris Van Vliet,” Goldberg gave some insight into what went wrong during the ill-fated match. “Right when they played my music, I knocked myself out before even walking to the freaking ring,” Goldberg said.

Just prior to the match, he had head-butted a door by mistake as part of a pre-match ritual. That was only the start of a catalog of errors. That night, Goldberg got not just one but two concussions, the second being when he accidentally rammed into a ring post during their clash.

“I unintentionally headbutted the freaking ring post, and it knocked me for another one,” he said. These injuries hampered his sense of balance and his decision-making abilities while inside the squared circle. The situation intensified as well as became more dangerous.

As per Golberg, ‘So, I had two concussions leading up to me dropping him on his head, And then the nice little payback was the Tombstone straight up and down on my head.’

Goldberg Risky Reckoning

Goldberg admits that he wrestled recklessly because he was not himself at that time.

He tacitly accepts punishment and says he felt like he “deserved” whatever came from The Undertaker for what happened. The most terrifying moment in this contest was when Goldberg nearly killed The Undertaker while attempting his signature move, Jackhammer.

Both veterans executed it poorly, resulting in both narrowly escaping serious injury. Nowadays, this encounter is seen by many people within wrestling as a cautionary tale: The Undertaker referred to it as a scary experience highlighting how risky professional wrestling is.
