Jim Ross discusses his relationship with Michael Cole

During the latest episode of JR’s Grilling Podcast, Jim Ross talked about his relationship with WWE commentator Michael Cole and why the two haven’t talked much in recent years. One of the other themes he talked about was his relationship with other pro wrestling athletes.
JR called the Hardcore belt a “watered-down championship” and felt that the 24/7 version was worse than its predecessor. “It was just another watered-down championship (Hardcore title), and now it’s even worse.
The 24/7 title, right? That’s hideous. It’s not even realistic. It has had so many champions, you can’t name them all,” admitted Jim Ross.

On his relationship with Michael Cole, Jim Ross said: “We haven’t talked much in recent years.
We text each other here and there, sometimes during the holidays. He has a big family this month, I’m sure we will message each other but I haven’t talked face to face with him in some time. He is always on the go, he has many responsibilities.
There is competitiveness between WWE and AEW but I don’t think Cole is a competitive one. I don’t think he cares that much. We write to each other once or twice a year and I wish there were more, but it’s difficult.
I wish things were different and Michael and I had long conversations on different topics. Football, family, holidays, food – there are many things I’d like to talk to him about, but the opportunity isn’t there. I just wish we had this opportunity to talk more.
I would like to let him know how much I respect what he did and what he still does today. He became a great presenter and did a great job.” On The Rock and wrestling, Jim Ross said, “This is wrestling and its business and it’s wonderful.
