Justin Gaethje Says Holloway Is Closest to Title Shot

Justin Gaethje has unfinished business against Max Holloway and gives him the highest chance of being the next UFC lightweight title challenger. Holloway secured a mind-boggling last-second knockout against Gaethje at the iconic UFC 300 event. In a recent interview, the UFC lightweight champion shared his thoughts on who has the best chance of securing a championship bout against him next. Holloway’s performance on Saturday night at UFC 329 will play a crucial role in dictating whether he will continue competing at welterweight or not. 

"If Max wins, he'd have the strongest case. He knocked me out, so he'd probably have the strongest claim to a title shot after this weekend. As for Conor McGregor, I can't see anything on paper that would justify him fighting for the championship. However, he's Conor McGregor, and it's the UFC, so crazy shit can always happen".  

Conor McGregor looks forward to securing a third title and dismisses the possibility of moving down to lightweight. There’s a very strong chance for him to face Islam Makhachev before the year ends.
