How Did Randy Orton Bounce Back From Injury in 2024?

Randy Orton, a veteran in WWE, had a 2024 that presented a mixed bag of ups and downs that would roll over into his future. After an 18-month hiatus due to a severe back injury, Orton made a triumphant return at Survivor Series: Partnered with Cody Rhodes’ team and came out on top in WarGames, November 2023.
Then, once 2024 transitioned, Orton carried his momentum and found himself in high profile matches. In January, he competed in a Fatal Four Way match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble in January against Roman Reigns, AJ Styles and LA Knight, but didn’t win. Last month he fought in the Elimination Chamber match in Perth, where he eliminated some notable opponents, ultimately before being the last guy left by Drew McIntyre.

And Orton’s championship gold fantasy took him to King of the Ring tournament, which he made it to the final and controversially lost to Gunther. This loss put the stage for the rematch at WWE’s Bash in Berlin in August last year, where Orton took on Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. He did all he could and failed to capture the title, however.
But it was his in ring efforts that put him on the professional map along with a significant contract extension. Reports claim he put pen to paper on a new five year WWE deal, keeping him as part of the company until 2029. WWE says Orton’s commitment to the organization demonstrates its faith in the Superstar’s staying power and ability to be an integral part of its future.
Another example of Orton’s resilience and commitment, were his recovery from a career threatening back injury. When medical professionals told him he shouldn’t return to the ring, after a successful spinal fusion surgery he defied those odds, returned in peak physical condition and made himself a formidable competitor in WWE again.
