Rey Mysterio, the renowned luchador, is one of the inductees of the WWE Hall of Fame on March 31, 2023, in his home state of California. This moment was especially significant as he became one of the few active performers to be inducted in the Hall of Fame.
While talking on “Busted Open Radio”, Mysterio reflected upon such a rare achievement in his career. “Honestly, when that offer came to me, I assumed they were even asking for a retirement,” he said.
“I flat out said: I’m not ready to retire [WWE CCO Triple H]. He goes, No, you are not. Us, we don’t wish for your retirement. We just think it is the best place since it’s in LA like your backyard.’ My jaw almost hit the floor.
I thought they have given me the best present in the world. The moment, for someone who has spent 35 years in this business, is a last piece all the bowing to all that you have done”.
California Roots Honored
Mysterio had just two travel hours between his hometown, Chula Vista, and Los Angeles, where the HoF induction ceremony took place.
This state has some special memories for Mysterio since much of his early phase of career saw him wrestling in bars in Hollywood. It’s not only about the WWE’s recognition of this dismissal; it’s about Mysterio’s devotion to halting more than just foreheads in California.
As of now, Rey Mysterio functions in the ‘WWE Raw brand alongside his son, Dominik Mysterio. They may pretend to feuds on the screen, but Rey Mysterio is comfortable knowing that the Mysterio name will not perish in history.
“It is great to watch him undertaking his own path no matter how close to the family name is. The surname’s very much alive, and hopefully will be for more generations to come,” Rey reworded. He has had a long eventful career and now at the age of 49, there are endless possibilities about what the future holds for him in wrestling.
Though he used to devote his life to wrestling until the age of 50, he now appears willing instead to work…
