Tommy Dreamer exits TNA’s creative team amid Anthem restructuring

TNA Wrestling's parent company has framed its latest round of cuts as routine housekeeping. The reality looks more like a promotion under financial pressure deciding its creative direction wasn't working — and acting fast.

Anthem Sports & Entertainment announced a workforce reduction it described as a way to "streamline operations" and strengthen "strategic focus and profitability." Beneath that language, the casualties tell a sharper story: the people shaping TNA's storylines and several familiar names are out at once.

The most revealing departure is Tommy Dreamer. The ECW veteran spent nearly a decade in various roles, most recently as a booker shaping creative direction. Removing the person steering that direction is rarely neutral — it signals dissatisfaction with where the product was heading.

Speaking through tears on Busted Open Radio, Dreamer said he left without bitterness after a "great conversation" with TNA boss Carlos Silva. "I gave so much of my life to this company," he said, adding that "everything has an end."

The rumored replacement is notable: Brian "Road Dogg" James, a WWE Hall of Famer with eleven years backstage who co-headed SmackDown's writing team before resigning weeks ago and publicly criticizing WWE for valuing money over wrestling. TNA would hand him a stage to prove his alternative — but it remains a rumor for now.

Callihan's case stands out. Anthem's statement named Dreamer and Blanchard but left him among unnamed "others." With TNA since 2017, he moved into merchandise work after stepping back from the ring; per Fightful, several stars spent months lobbying to get him into creative. He was released instead. "Thought I was getting called today to be offered a position in creative… nope. I've parted ways with TNA," he wrote, steering fans to his own promotion, Pro-Wrestling Revolver.
