The Miz Opens Up on Mentoring New WWE Talent

WWE veteran The Miz, who has spent over two decades with the company and is one of its most recognizable faces, has watched his career change in many ways. He main-evented WrestleMania and became a two-time Grand Slam champion before becoming a locker room leader, and now he’s offering insights into that journey.

But for all his success and experience, mentoring young talent didn’t come naturally to him. Speaking with WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes on “What do you wanna talk about? With Cody Rhodes,” The Miz opened up about being uncomfortable as a mentor.

It took time for him to feel comfortable mentoring the next generation of WWE stars. “I don’t know how much I do because sometimes I’m like, what am I gonna teach them, right?” he admitted. “And then I’ll sit there and watch a match, or some of them will go like, ‘Hey, will you watch my match?’ And I’ll watch it, and I’ll go, this, this, this, this, and I’ll think of a million things, and I can actually see it now”.

Mentorship Challenges Faced

The transition into being a mentor wasn’t seamless for The Miz. “It’s interesting to be that guy. I never felt like I was that guy,” he said.“I was uncomfortable with it three years ago and now I feel more comfortable and confident”.

According to The Miz himself, his confidence started building up as he worked on celebrity matches where he had to train with different celebrities. He used some of those skills while training WWE stars. The transformation shows how much progress one can make when they are ready to adapt and give back.

To him, wrestling with famous people who were not wrestlers but wanted to get in the ring helped him become better at guiding others when it comes to wrestling. This part of his growth reflects his development not just as an entertainer but also as someone capable of molding future talents within the wrestling industry.
