WWE Declines Offer for AJ Styles TNA Hall of Fame Induction

WWE’s decision was shocking after AJ Styles got an opportunity to be enshrined into the TNA Hall of Fame at the Bound For Glory event that recently took place. Instead of that last Saturday event honoring the late co-founder of TNA, Bob Ryder, also the TNA Tag Team Champion Rhino. Rhino is still active with TNA; he was part of the Call Your Shot Gauntlet match during the pre-show of Countdown to Bound For Glory.

Fightful Select reported that TNA had attempted to ask WWE about Styles’s induction to the Hall of Fame and Monty Brown’s induction. Brown, known to have previously played in TNA under that name and in WWE as Marcus Cor Von, was also said to have been on the radar. “Fightful” also claimed that Styles was unable to take advantage of the chance because WWE, for some unknown reasons, actually had other ideas. Some people in TNA attributed that decision to the injury Styles recently suffered in his in-ring debut.

Styles’ Possible Return

Also, some within TNA hint that AJ was quite possibly willing to come out for a special sighting or even wrestle in the promotion. But whether any concrete talks on the matter took place is also unknown. Styles’ final engagement outside WWE came in July when he traveled to Japan to battle Naomichi Marufuji in Pro Wrestling NOAH.

Unfortunately, he got a crack on his ankle during the 4 October match on WWE’s SmackDown. After a few days, reports indicated that WWE had planned a retirement and farewell saga for Styles. Such schemes are said to be on the table and have not been ruled out as WWE waits to receive the findings of an MRI scan to determine the full nature of his injury.

WWE has been visiting TNA in glimpses, with some stars from each organization making it into their opponent’s programming on occasion. This has, in turn, made the fans more optimistic about future crossovers.
